Evaluation of the National Economic Development and Law Center's Kellogg Foundation Grant
Since 1992, the National Economic Development and Law Center (NEDLC) has worked with local and state organizations to establish greater linkages between child care and economic development. As a part of NEDLC's more recent efforts in California, they developed the Child Care Economic Impact Report (CCEIR). In May of 2002 NEDLC's Children, Youth and Families Division received a grant from the Kellogg Foundation to build their internal capacity to produce the CCEIRs on a national scale. These reports will analyze the economic impact of the child care industry in a given county or state. Additional goals of the grant include the use of the CCEIR process to create systemic change in investment strategies and programs to grow and sustain the child care industry.
As a part of this grant, NEDLC contracted with BPA to evaluate its progress toward achieving these goals. BPA's evaluation reports will examine NEDLC's experience implementing the grant and the outcomes achieved to date.
