Into Focus: Identifying the Unmet Healthcare Needs of Californians with Chronic Neurological Conditions

Into Focus: Identifying the Unmet Healthcare Needs of Californians with Neurological Conditions was designed as a multi-phase research effort to document the healthcare needs of this population and propose strategies to address them. This research?consisting of a literature review and key informant interviews?identified themes and critical unmet needs in the areas of: access to and quality of primary care, specialists, medications, insurance, durable medical equipment, long-term care, and information and referral. The project was commissioned by the American Academy of Neurology, a non-profit medical specialty society and the California NeuroAlliance, an alliance of people affected by neurological conditions, their advocates and their physicians, whose mission is to promote quality health care for Californians with neurological conditions.
