An Evaluation LIFETIME (Low-Income Families' Empowerment through Education)
Founded in 1996, LIFETIME is a non-profit organization that provides peer based support and advocacy services to help low income parents access higher education and attain career path employment that will support their families. LIFETIME provides client services through the PEER Program (Peer Empowerment and Education Retention), which encompasses client outreach and education, counseling, case management, client advocacy, and referral. The program services CalWORKs and other low-income parents in the Bay Area and throughout California. LIFETIME's PEER Advocates provide clients with guidance, tools, resources, and the support necessary to navigate the welfare system and access education and employment opportunities. BPA's evaluation documented LIFETIME's implementation, identified effective practices, and made recommendations for expansion or replication elsewhere.
